Finally

Ok, let me start with a disclosure, I adore blueberries and this is a post about them, if you don’t like blueberries, i really feel sorry for you.

Friday marked the first day blueberries were available at the local farm market and we went and got 4 quarts. Two quarts remain. One was devoured mostly by me, and the other went into blueberry buckle for this mornings breakfast.

Buckle

The buckle is a recipe from Alton Brown (I love his stuff for the most part) and it was good. Next time I make it however I think I’ll cut back on the berries a bit. Not that it was bad or anything, just seemed like to many.

As for the rest of the berries, only time will tell. I’ll be getting more this week to go into the freezer (just put them on a sheet pan and freeze, then bag) so I can fulfill my craving for berries in the winter. Next weekend will probably be blueberry muffins, though this looks awfully good.

Anyway I’ll leave you with this parting photo Berries now go get some berries.

PS, if yor adventurous, you can do what my buddy is doing. It looks interesting, I wonder if he’ll save any for me….

A Balloon or two

A Balloon or two, originally uploaded by Dave Kekish.

Saturday we spent a good amount of time with some friends down in Ashland, Ohio for the Balloon Fest. It was a good time and the kids sure did like those balloons.

I ended up shooting a ton of pictures (only a small percentage are online at the moment) and of those, I really like this one. Hope you do as well.

Zoo

Jelly One, originally uploaded by Dave Kekish.

Well as promised, we went to the zoo and now, some pictures. Jelly fish are very hard to photograph, since it really dark in the aquarium.

Unfortunaly a large number of photos ended up being over exposed since i changed settings for the above shots and forgot to set it back. I’ll learn next time.

I managed to come up with a few, and I like this one
_-8

Did you know that peanut butter gets rid of hiccups?   Works like a charm on the girls,  doesn’t work for me, so I don’t know if its an adult vs child thing, but.  I find it interesting at least.

Seriously, Its July almost and this blog is wasting away.   Well hopefully I’ll have more pictures to put up soon and who knows what my foggy brain will decide to type.

I’m currently on vacation (it actually started last Thursday and goes through the 4th) and I’m attempting to relax.   Relaxing is not one of those things that comes natural to me.

This coming week will include trips to the various parks surrounding the lovely Geauga County and we’re planning on going down to my mother in laws for a trip to the Akron zoo.

Cleveland’s zoo is really top notch, but a) its huge, hard for little ones to stay interested for more than 2 hours and b) I swear the thing is built on the side of a mountain.  To many hills for hauling kids in a wagon.

Akron’s a lot smaller, the whole thing can be seen in about 2 hours, and instead of bars and distance between you and the animals, its a thick piece of plexy.  makes for nice viewing.

I’ve been playing a lot of warcraft lately.   My mage is in a raiding guild, for which I am still woefully unprepared.   They seem to be good folks, time will tell.  I sometimes think I play to much, which could be a reason I don’t post more.  Eh.  I don’t know.

Work as always is work.  Working on some new entity framework stuff, but I frankly don’t have a firm grasp on it yet.  I also find my self working on a 3rd party app in which I add fields to a form.  To put it bluntly, it thrills me not.  Seventeen years of development work and I get to drag and drop to build a form.  Boring it is.

But its work, so….

I’ll post more this week at least.  Some photos hopefully if nothing else.

What?

So this morning, I’m checking my mail at work and I see a TechNet Flash from Microsoft. I open it to see if there is anything interesting.

Nope, its all Vista is great, Vista is wonderful, Bah.

Here’s a flash for MS, at work I run Server 2003 configured as a workstation. Its solid and stable and stays the hell out of my way when I need it to.

At home I run my beloved iMac and no I will never run vista at home. After a decade + of PC’s, my switch has made me happy to have a computer at home again.

But the thing I really wanted to point out from the Technet was this gem of a idea. 10 vista installed saves 1 car’s worth of greenhouse gases. Really. Here’s the link the a document.

Now Microsoft has put food on my table for a large number of years, so I probably shouldn’t complain, but that is just silly.
By the same token of job of measurement, so did XP, hell maybe even Windows 3.1 did (I don’t remember, I try to forget those days).

Shudder

Not ready at all for this image. Thankfully that day is still a long way off.

Busy Busy

Wow, its been about a month since I last posted. Hmm, my fault. Just busy and when I get some time to myself, I tend to zone out. However that excuse will not work today. Today, 30+ photo’s were uploaded to flickr, 200+ processed in Lightroom and since your reading this, I wrote at least one blog post.

Here’s a few pictures

Daddy, look

How do I look?

How many of me do you see?

Some of the things that kept me busy of late you can see in the first 2 shots, the girls now have a full fledged swingset in the backyard. Its the Pathfinder model from Walmart. It was reasonable in price and just a bit complicated to put together. It should supposedly take 2 people who know what they are doing about 6 - 8 hours to complete it. Or as was in my case, myself and a friend one day and me alone for the next few. I’m a hack, I admit it.

Lets see, what else is going on. Warcraft has sucked away more time of course, my mage hit level 64 and I realized I’m getting a bit burned out. The game is much more fun when you have someone to grind away with, but doing a lot of solo stuff is a drag. My fall back is current Grand Theft Auto 4, a thoroughly violent game not fit for anyone considered a minor, but as an adult, its a great game.

Work is work, nuff said about it.
