The other thing I do,    Cook.

I love to cook.    Yesterday I did homemade applesauce (easy and the apples were going to start to go soonish, so….)   I also made what my wife calls the worst pumpkin pie she ever ever tasted and she will sacrifice herself and eat the pie to save me the horror :-) .   Hmm,  don’t think so.

Today I’m doing Salt Roasted Shrimp and some store bought lobster cakes.   In general, I think Alton Brown is the best thing on the Food Network.

I also made a double batch of AB’s eggnog recipe.   Leave it sit in the fridge for a while (a week min) and you have some seriously good drink.   Making a double batch isn’t any harder than making one, and it will last a week this way.    I use pasteurized eggs for it since it calls for raw eggs.   I don’t know that its absolutely necessary, but…   I mean, who doesn’t eat cookie dough?   BTW,  if you don’t like the taste of the whiskey,  let it sit in the fridge for a while,   after a week, the taste of the booze basically disappears in the goodness.

Hey, two posts in two days

Must be a record or something.

So today I thought I’d let you know a little about me.

I write software for a living for a large (and growing) health care system in Ohio.  I’ve been writing code professionally and no so professionally since 1982 when I first sat in front of a Apple 2e and fell in love with technology.   It was my senior year in high school and computers were still a new thing.   I liked them so much,  I actually helped teach the class the second half of the year.    I bought myself a commodore 64 and was off to the races with it.  So when I say I like computers, I mean it. Code anymore leaves me feeling flat.   I don’t know if its me or my current job.  The struggle to look forward to going to work is currently being fought.  Work will win of course,  that’s how life goes.

I’ve got 2 kids (I don’t recommend twins as a way to start a family, but hey, it worked out ok so far.  I suppose I can’t really complain about that.

In my copious spare time (maybe 2 and a half hours an evening after they go to bed, lunches made, dinner cleaned up, wife talked to, etc I play video games.   I have played an extreme number of games in my life.  I’ve got a Xbox 360 and my current desktop (a 24″ iMac).   On the Xbox, I’m currently playing Dragon Age and it is shaping up to be a fun game.   I think the graphics are a bit funky in the Xbox version,   like it doesn’t quite fit the proportions of my TV screen.   I can live it, but it does annoy me.  You’ll hear a little about Xbox gaming on this site.

On my mac, I play World of Warcraft probably to much.   Its a fun game and I’m in a good spot guild wise.  You’ll hear a good bit about Wow on this blog and some about other games as well.

So that’s me.  To quote Popeye, I am what I am.

Blog Reboot

November 7, 2009 · Leave a Comment

Well, here I go again.   I’m redoing this one more time,  see if I can make it stick with me this time.

I started this blog about 6 years ago on various blog services, some of which I wrote code for and some, like this one, I just use.   I probably have made about 500 posts, but the last year, well,  not so much.

I’m going to make an attempt to write something, even if its drivel like this post at least once a week.   If I disappear for a couple of weeks, just assume I lost interest once again, and this thing is toast.
